Chilli Chicken | Nepali Food Recipe | Anup Kitchen

Deep fried chili chicken is an absolute winner for people who love fried chicken. This recipe has dry gravy just enough to coat the chicken with delicious flavor.

Ingredients

For chicken marinade:

  • 1 lb. boneless chicken
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. paprika powder
  • 4 tbsp. AP flour
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. corn flour
  • 1 tbsp. dark soy sauce
  • 50 ml water

For gravy

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 1/2 green bell pepper
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 green chili
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. paprika powder
  • 1 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp. dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. ketchup
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 tsp. red chili paste
  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro

Directions

  1. Marinade chicken with salt, paprika, all purpose flour, and pepper, egg, dark soy sauce, corn flour and water.
  2. Mix it well to evenly coat the chicken and set it aside for about 30 minutes.
  3. In a deep frying pan, add oil deep enough to fry the chicken.
  4. Place fried chicken in a paper towel to extract excess oil.
  5. For the gravy, heat up oil in a non-stick pan and add cumin seeds.
  6. Add red and green bell pepper, green chili and sauté for few minutes.
  7. Add onions and sauté for another minute.
  8. Add salt and pepper, paprika, turmeric, red chili paste, dark soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, honey and mix it well.
  9. Add tomatoes and cook for another few minutes.
  10. Add the chicken and mix well with the gravy.
  11. Top it off with cilantro and cook for another few minutes.
  12. It is ready to be served.
